Mouline Etre, MD

Dr. Etre (pronounced eh-tree) has been practicing medicine for 22 years and has been with JMU for the last 15. Prior to working as a staff physician, she spent a year working in an emergency room, and spent six years as a family physician in a community health center. She went to medical school at the University of Iowa Medical School, and did her family practice residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics. She has been board-certified in family practice since 1992.

She has always wanted to work at a student health center, and this has been a great opportunity for her and her husband to join us at JMU. Dr. Etre loves working with the students, and she hopes that in addition to providing good health care, she can make a positive impact for students here at JMU. For the last 2 years she has been the captain of the University Health Center team for Relay for Life at JMU. She volunteers her time as captain in support of all the students that work so hard on this event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Dr. Etre commented that she has always wanted to be a doctor: “I really care about people and enjoy helping people. As a physician, I can provide acute care and also provide education about wellness and prevention.”

When not at work, she loves spending time with family and beading. She also helps refugees in the Harrisonburg area, and tries to be a resource as they adjust to new culture.
